Hope springs external for overcoming the yips, and this tape may do the trick if you have a very mild case, but it isn't going to do much for a severe case. Each side of the tape is identical -- a 25-minute visualization exercise that certainly can't hurt your putting. You develop a relaxation trigger that you then use on the greens to trigger a relaxation response. One major frustration for me is that you are asked to do some extremely complex visualization EXTREMELY fast. I've previously had hypnosis and have listened to the tape numerous times, but I have yet to really get the hang of it. I'm not sure why the narrator rushes through these portions, but it's mildly irritating. However, I've been using the relaxation trigger when putting with the only method that has ever cured the yips for me (i.e., putting left-handed) and have had several excellent putting performances. In short, this can't hurt -- but if you really think it's going to cure the yips, you're probably one of those dreamers who thinks a $600 driver is going to add 40 yards as well. (The author contacted me after the foregoing review originally appeared and complained that I'd been unfair. I believe that there is general confusion, perhaps even on the author's part, between the "choking" or "stress-related" yips that may occasionally strike anyone and the mysterious yips that seem to have some physical or psychological basis and that caused Sam Snead to say "Once you've had 'em, you've got 'em." The Mayo Clinic has been studying the latter form. This tape will almost surely help if you have the "choking" form, although I stand by my earlier comments. It will almost surely NOT help if you have the more mysterious form.)

I got a copy of this tape a couple of years ago and I'm glad to see that Amazon sells it now. Given that the "author" uses NLP techniques, I've been analyzing what he does. I was a bit skeptical initially but I think this is a nice piece of technology. It shows what one can do when applying NLP principles! Thus, overcoming the yips is a good example of what Goleman would call "emotional intelligence". Buying all 4 of his tapes might be a bit overkill: start with the one that tackles the issue you want to work on most.

I love golf and almost gave up playing. Three years of anxiety when putting. Professional golf teachers, sport psychologists, even anti-anxiety medications; the yips persisted.

That is, until I listened to this tape three or four times the weekend I received it. Next time out, no more shaking, tension or perspiration. I couldn't believe it. That was four weeks ago. Haven't had the yips since, not even in tournament play.

How/why this half hour tape accomplished this is still a mystery to me. As per its design, I doze off while listening to it. Obviously, I recommend it to anyone who suffers from the yips.

This book offers a very comprehensive look at microbiology and virology (with some immunology and parasitology thrown in); unfortunately, that's not a good thing if you're trying to study from it. The chapters are full of information on lab values and other minutiae that will be of interest to only those who make a living in the field. Otherwise, you'll have to search hard to pick out the relevant details that are worth remembering. There are definitely better, easier to use books on the market than this one

depending on the focus of your course, this might not have enough clinical case-related material. Great for the "big flick" with a very well laid out presentation (not enough pix or graphs), very good overall. Lot's of people in my class chose the Appleton and Lange (same publisher) 'Review" version of this book (blue cover).

This book contains many beautiful sweaters. I picked one that really appealed to me and have been struggling ever since to make sense of the instructions. There are instructions that are hard to follow, as well as typos and errors. I recommend this book to experienced knitters who are able to figure things out for themselves.

This book is a reprint of Knitting the New Classics with a different cover illustration & a different title. The original hardcover book was very nice with some interesting patterns, not great but very good. Why the change in title & cover picture? It seems to be the thing to do these days.

I just wnat to say that KNITTING TODAY'S CLASSICS is a must have book. Aside from the beautiful and colorful patterns, this book has a very "user friendly" approach to knitting. The instructions are easy to follow, pattern sizes are detailed throughout and, there is something for every knitter's taste. Aran, Fair isle and Intarsia. A "must have" addition for one's knitting library!

The play Mrs Warren's Profession was one of Shaws plays unpleasent and he wrote it at a time when many people shyed away from the mojority of political and social issues of the time. Shaw had an ability however to lay down the facts of many things that were happening in society and he often gave the reader or audience a sense of responsibilty that many of the people involved were receiving. In Mrs Warren's Profession he focusses on the hidden world of prostitution without ever mentioning the word or even spelling it out to the reader/audience. With this he is able to descibe the effects it has without crudly embarking on a course of discrimination. All in all it is a powerful piece which shows how women had had influence over the world in all aspects.

The play Mrs. Warren's Profession was good, the main charcter was not Mrs. Warren but her daughter Vivie who goes back in and forth in every act between love and hate for her mother who has been a prostitue and ran some brothels. Vivie is convienced her mother could have made a better choice for herself than prostitution. Mrs. Warren has kept Vivie out of the brothels all of her life and gave her the best in education and up bring. But even though she has done all of that Vivie is not content on being there any longer with her mother. End the end Vivie leaves her mother and Mrs. Warren holds her self together unappoligic for anything she has done. This play was a great example of how women had two choices at the time the play was set in marriage or prostitution which were both forms of slavery. Shaw knew how hard it was for women in society and wanted more for them, than just mother hood and marriage.

Shaw does a wonderful job at showing her "job" without having to tell you. It gives it more of an off limits feel for the job and also makes the listener feel like they are there. Powerful and compelling.

The number of stars given to this book so far baffles me (and was the reason I gave it a shot). Although there are interesting aspects, particularly if you have lived or do live in Boston, I found the book to be more an outline than a well-developed plot with well-developed characters. The book is like one of those "connect the dot" pictures and the narrative jumps from dot to narrative dot, but there's often not much in between. We always know, however, where the protagonist is in physical space, and the description of the environment is well-drawn. Also, individual vignettes and character sketches are occasionally engrossing and amusing. One primary subplot, that involving Clayton and the merciless art dealer he invites to stay with him during a prolonged snow storm, is left dangling with no resolution. The ending, also, is completely unsatisfactory -- the murderer isn't even introduced until he is caught. What kind of mystery is this? Bottom line assessement is that Kilmer has potentional, but he is a lazy writer. I've just started on of Iain Pears now and am finding him much more capable.

I logged on to see if anything is listed as forthcoming from this tremendous writer. I first picked up one of his books at my library, noticing the word "squirrel" on the cover - and I was hooked. While I immediately learned he offered nothing on squirrels, his human characters are portrayed with warmth, humor and intelligence. Searching for more by Kilmer after going through his mysteries, I read A Place in Normandy. Now I want he and his family to continue on with their personal lives so warmly and humorously shared, but I do hope he leaves some time for writing! The Boston police ask noted art expert Fred Taylor to identify and authenticate a painting found at a gruesome murder scene. The headless victim was crucified with the painting of Christ replacing the corpse's missing head. Fred determines that the painting that allegedly cries in blood, is a fake.

At about the same time, Fred's employer Clayton Reed has the opportunity to purchase a collection consisting of the Old Masters from two different dealers. However, neither dealer will allow Clayton or Fred to see the paintings. However, one of the dealers is soon murdered. Fred manages to obtain photocopies of the set and quickly confirms that they are all forgeries. The similarities between the Christ "miracle" painting and the Old Masters's set lead Fred to conclude that they all come from the same collection and that the two killings are connected. However, as Fred gets closer to identifying the headless corpse and the killer, he better watch his step or he will become the next death statistic.

O SACRED HEAD is an excellent contemporary who-done-it due to the fabulous characters. Fred is a genuine connoisseur who stays planted on the ground due to his charming girl friend and her precocious children. The mystery is complex and is brilliantly intertwined with an art world that showcases beauty while concealing its ugly and seedy side. With this masterpiece and its predecessors, Nicholas Kilmer has successfully opened up a unique sub-genre that will thrill more than just art fans.

When I first started to read this book I thought that it was so sweet for two people from across from two sides (the preppy side and also a christian linke environment) for them to come together in the likely-hood that they wouldn't even look the other's way. The feelings that he has grown for her for the last few week is amazing. I couldn't believe that his feelings for her worked so fast. (It was amazing) But I think that if she loved him she should of told him of her sickness. Eventhough she was trying to keep it quiet it would of got out in the open anyway. It was a spirit filled book. I will highly reccomend this book to anyone who believes that love could/ would never happen to them.

This book was on my bookshelf for at least 6 months before I actually picked it up and began reading... once I opened to page one, I couldn't put it down until I had read the very last word. I definitely recommend this book - it will make you smile & make you cry, sometimes at the same time!

This is such a great book.. Sure its just like the normal edition of AWTR but this one just touches my soul. I dunno why.. the picture of Mandy moore and Shane West on the front or just the discriptions? You have GOT to get this!

While most writers of historical fiction place their characters in the context of real events, in this case Dudley Pope has substituted Ramage for Commodore Samuel Hood. After preliminaries, the main action takes place at Martinique in the summer of 1804. Ramage is sent to blockade the island and, in the process, fortifies the Diamond Rock (Hood's actual accomplishment that year). Some of the writing goes into extreme detail (e.g., Pope's reconstruction of the probable means Hood used to place guns on top the rock), and some is larger than life, perhaps too much so (Ramage's action against a French convoy). There are some editorial glitches, e.g., a statement that men would be excluded from sharing in prize money when earlier in the story they had participated in the action that captured a frigate.

On an historical note, the Diamond Rock was commissioned and carried on the Royal Navy books as a sloop. It was surrendered to a French fleet in 1805 when the British crew on the rock ran out of water (see W. P. Gosset, "The Lost Ships of the Royal Navy, 1793-1900").

The novel shows Ramgage growing in his command of the frigate as he is assigned a task to monitor the French. He starts with a single frigate and a lack of knowledge of the area and his enemy .. as the story continues .. Ramage finds himself having to improvise in order to keep his ship from falling into the hands of the French as well as making plans to capture an inbound French convoy. ... theough a series of events .. he manages to acquire a small fleet of ships ... fortify a island ... and all but cut the French off from any help. .. a well written story ... much in the same line as C. S. Foresters Horatio Hornblower series .... or that of Alexander Kent and his Richard Bolitho series

In which newly made Capt. Ramage buys arms, commands a slovenly ship, blockades Martinique and sees a diamond, removes a frigate, climbs a hill, and plots to devour a French fleet single-handedly in 1804. Ramage, like Hornblower, has a depth of character best revealed in their moments of introspection. But while Hornblower doubts his own courage, Ramage knows courage is a facade put up for the encouragement of others. I found the most fascinating passages were on pp. 259-263, where we get an outsider's view of Ramage and feel the effect of the meticulous planning that is the essence of inspiring leadership. It is likely these passages embody the secret of Lord Cochrane's astonishing successes as a winner who, like Ramage, didn't do it over the dead bodies of his men (the historic Lord Cochrane [1775-1860] being the inspiration for much of British naval fiction). As always Pope's descriptions are clear and precise, but here supplemented with diagrams of a jackstay lift for the central hill-climbing business.

The reader might want to know that this is really the first of several books dealing continuously with Ramage's renewed adventures in the West Indies (but a separate cycle from his W. Indian adventures in vols 2-4). Although this is a pretty complete story unto itself, if you've already read this far in the series (you did, didn't you?) there's no way you won't want to move immediately after this to MUTINY. Proofing is a little sloppy in a series that is doing the McBooks imprint proud.

Love the book- clear, concise, good layout, graphics, and organized well enough that you can put it down and play, but still pick up where you left off. Being new at the OS to some degree, optimizing the GUI is the first thing I want to do, then work the underlying files later. This is the book to show you how to run and tweek the environment.

Just the right book at the right time. Takes some of the mystery out of KDE's layout and utilities. I learned a lot, and use it as my KDE reference. Recommended!!

This book is a good learning guide for people who have recently changed from MS products and enables a user to configure a Unix system to do the same things they did on a Windows box. There is not much advanced info for Admins as the program is all GUI anyway. My only critisism is that there is little mention of any OS other than Linux, I use this on FreeBSD and I know others using it on Solaris. Other than this small problem I an happy with the book and recomend it to both new users and admins who need to teach clients about this desktop.

The author served along the British general in command of the Royal Marines Brigade in the Malvinas and later wrote Nine Battles to Stanley (published in 1999) that studied the ground war in much greater detail. Nicholas van der Bijl establishes that the 601st and 602nd Commando Units of the Argentine Army gave the British patrols a lot of trouble prior to the final battles. He sheds new light on the battle for Goose Green by proving that an Argentine company there was made up of tough hand-picked conscripts that had undergone Commando-training. I believe that this was the reason the Paras went through such a horrible time at Goose Green. I enjoyed this book for its colour plates and pictures of the elite RI 25. It is a good companion to his latest book Nine Battles to Stanley (click "Book Search" to find it or otherwise you will make no progress)in which he describes in great detail the ground war from the Argentine side, naming practically all the Argentine platoon commanders that saw action on Mount Harriet and Two Sisters, describing in detail the numerous Argentine platoon-sized nocturnal counterattacks that took place and which involved roughly 600 Argentine conscripts and regulars. The British commanders as his second books establishes, severely underestimated the Argentines, which resulted in higher (that could have otherwise been avoided)casualties among the British patrols and platoons that took the hills.

This book is not a complete overview of the boxer in any meaningful sense. While it does have occasional chapters which apply to boxers in general, the majority of this book is devoted to history of the breed and information on showing the dog. Most of the generally applicable information on the Boxer was hopelessly biased, with the general portrayal being that Boxers are born dignified and noble. The entire first 150-160 pages are nothing but history of famous boxers and similar information. If this is your cup of tea, you'll love this book. Personally, I'd hoped for a little more practical information.

This has to be one of the best books on the market about Boxers. Everything this former show judge says about the breed is right on the mark. The most concise & complete guide recording the history of the breed. A "must buy" for those who can only afford one book. A great addition to an existing library. The author speaks in terms that the layman can easily understand. Great Book.
